Bhubaneswar: A special board comprising officers from the Coast Guard and Odisha Police will be formed soon to enhance coastal security. This board will conduct a thorough inspection of the coastal area, and based on their report, Marine Police Stations will be equipped with boats, as announced by DGP YB Khurania following a meeting with Additional Director General Donny Michael, Coast Guard Commander (Eastern Seaboard).
Retired personnel from the Coast Guard and Indian Navy will also be appointed to Marine Police Stations, the DGP addded.
The meeting between Khurania and Michael focused on disaster preparedness, coastal security initiatives, and intra-departmental coordination. They discussed plans to intensify patrolling, monitor suspicious air movements, and strengthen the coastal control system. The possibility of the Coast Guard providing cooperation to the Odisha Police was also explored.
DGP Khurania assured the media that efforts will be made to maintain the long-term relationship between the Odisha Police and the Coast Guard.
