Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has appointed a total of 1,890 Sub-Inspectors in the last 10 years, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi told the State Assembly on Monday.

Replying to a question by Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, CM Majhi clarified that there is no provision for direct recruitment to the post of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI).

“All recruitments are conducted through established procedures and no direct appointments are made,” he said.

The Chief Minister added that until the Combined Police Service Examination (CPSE)–2017, the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) handled the recruitment process, which included a Preliminary Test, Physical Test, Written Test, and Viva Voce. For SI examinations conducted in 2018, 2019, and 2021, the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) carried out the selection as per prevailing rules, based on Written and Physical Tests.

CM Majhi also stated that there have been no complaints or reports of payment of money for employment in these examinations, ensuring transparency in the recruitment process.
