Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police sportspersons have brought laurels to the state by winning multiple medals at national-level police championships.
In recognition of their outstanding performances, Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania announced cash rewards for the medal winners during a special ceremony held at the DGP’s camp office in Bhubaneswar.
At the 24th All India Police Aquatic Championship 2024-25, held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha Police athletes showcased their dominance in aquatic sports by clinching an impressive tally of 5 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 4 bronze medals.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Police women’s football team secured a bronze medal at the 73rd All India Police Football Championship held in Tripura.
Adding to the accolades, Odisha Police gymnast Sitakant Ojha won a bronze medal at the All India Police Kabaddi Cluster held in Jalandhar, Punjab.
To celebrate these achievements and encourage future talents, DGP Khurania announced cash incentives for the medal winners.
Gold medalists will receive ₹5,000 each, silver medalists ₹3,000 each, and bronze medalists ₹2,000 each. The DGP praised the athletes for their exceptional talent and dedication, expressing confidence that their success would inspire young sportspersons in Odisha to pursue excellence in their respective fields.
The ceremony was attended by senior police officials, including Police Commissioner S. Devdatta Singh, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Dayal Gangwar, Additional Police Commissioner Narsingh Bhol, and Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena. Team managers, coaches, and athletes were also present to celebrate the occasion.
