Bhubaneswar: Amidst ongoing rescue and search operations at the landslide-hit Wayanad, a team of four Odisha police officials, along with a sniffer dog, has left for Kerala on Sunday to assist in the operations.
The team consists of one inspector, two sub-inspectors, and a trainer of the K9 dog named ‘Storm’, a German Shepherd currently deployed with the Berhampur police.
According to reports, Storm is the only dog in the Odisha police with experience in carrying out search and rescue operations.
The deadly landslides that shook the Wayanad district of Kerala on July 30 have so far claimed over 360 lives, with more than 200 persons missing.
On the sixth day of ongoing rescue and search operations at Wayanad, a huge number of properties have been damaged by the massive landslides, claiming the lives of humans and animals.
Storm with expertise in search and rescue operations will help find traces of lives buried under the debris and broken houses.
