Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police has planned to start drone surveillance in the cut-off areas of Malkangiri district and Bhubaneswar and for this purpose it is going to procure two drones of Rs 15 lakh each, informed DGP RP Sharma today.

Talking to mediapersons, Sharma said that as traffic movement has started on Gurupriya Bridge, the State Police is able to launch many operations which were earlier not possible.

He also informed that as per the action plan of Odisha Police, there is need of road construction in the cut-off areas which has been started by the Malkangiri (R&B) Division. There is also a need of redeployment of forces which has already been completed in some areas.

"Earlier launching operations from Odisha in cut-off areas was negligible, all the operations were launched from Andhra Pradesh. Now we are able to launch operations from Odisha. The operations for area domination will be intensified and our aim is to completely free the area from Naxals," said Sharma.
