**Balasore:** The principal-in-charge of Kuladharabinda Primary School in Simulia block here has been suspended after the national flag was seen flying on the mast since yesterday (August 15) till today morning (August 16).
As per reports, the school celebrated the 72nd Independence Day yesterday but until today morning, the national flag was seen flying high, which means it was not brought down after sunset as per the custom.
As per the Flag Code, it is an insult to the national flag and is a crime against the nation.
After some locals complained before the Block Education Officer (BEO), a brief inquiry was made into the incident leading to the assistant teacher-cum-principal-in-charge Chittaranjan Das’s suspension.
Simulia BEO Mayadhar Sahu said, “We got a complaint that the national flag’s dignity has been hurt as the national flag was seen flying till today morning. After an inquiry, the principal-in-charge has been suspended”.
As per the Constitution of India, there are certain dos and don’ts that have been laid down for upholding the honour to our Indian national flag one of which says that the national flag should always be taken down in before sunset and in this incident, the rule has been breached.
