**Kalahandi:** A prisoner reportedly escaped from Bhawanipatna district jail on Friday morning. The matter came to light after the jail authorities lodged a complaint at the Town Police Station in connection with the incident.
He was identified as Bharasagara Sabara (40), a native of Kantapali village under Komana police limits in Nuapada district. As per sources, he was lodged in the jail after being convicted in a woman harassment case.
As per reports, the prisoner took advantage of poor security measures along with the poor boundary wall condition of the jail garden and managed to escape while working in the garden at around 10.30 am on Friday.
Following the incident, Bhawanipatna Town police have started investigation and are conducting raids at several places to nab the escaped prisoner.
