**Balasore:** In a shocking incident, a prisoner died after allegedly being attacked by another inmate inside Balasore jail here today afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Ramachandra Das. He was lodged at the Balasore Jail four days ago in connection with an illegal liquor case.
Reportedly, Das and some other inmates were having a conversation when an inmate identified as Sharat Giri attacked Das with a brick inside the jail this morning.
Das suffered haemorrhage after the incident, following which the jail authorities rushed the bleeding victim to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. However, Das succumbed to his injuries later.
The reason behind the attack on Das is yet to be ascertained while jail authorities are further investigating into the matter.
