**Bhubaneswar:** Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered closure of Anganwadi Centres across the State tomorrow pursuing Indian Meteorological Department’s prediction of heavy rains. Naveen has directed district Collectors to take appropriate steps for implementation of the orders after assessing the rain situation.
“In view of the heavy rain forecast by regional office of IMD today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed to close Anganwadi centres throughout the State tomorrow for safety of the kids,” a release from the Chief Minister’s Office read. Besides, all schools in Bhubaneswar will also remain closed tomorrow, the order added.
Earlier today, IMD’s Regional Director H R Biswas had informed that the low pressure over Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression and is likely to persist for another 24 hours.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in a few places with isolated cases of extremely heavy rainfall over North and South Odisha during the next 24 hours, till the depression weakens.
