Bhubaneswar: Odisha ranks first in jackfruit production in the country while ranking sixth in the production of lemon, and eighth in mango among fruits, informed Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain in the Odisha Assembly today.
Replying to a query by BJD member from Rajnagar Dhruba Charan Sahu, the Minister said that the State produces 98,55,770 MT of vegetables and 25,31,534 MT of fruits.
“In fruit production, Odisha respectively ranks first in jackfruit, sixth in lemon, eighth in mango, and in vegetable production ranks first in sweet potato, third in paddy straw mushroom, second in brinjal and cabbage, sixth in cauliflower, fifth in ladies’ finger (okra), tomato and watermelon and eighth in bottle gourd,” stated Swain.
