Bhubaneswar: Odisha received a record amount of rainfall in the last 24 hours ending at 0830 hours of August 1 leading to water logging in several low-lying areas, including the capital city of Bhubaneswar.
According to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here, the rainfall received in the various places in the state during the period is as below:
- Bhubaneswar (Khurda) 26 cm
- Satyabadi (Puri) 11 cm
- Kantapada (Cuttack) 10 cm
- Tihidi (Bhadrak) 10 cm
- Bhuban (Dhenkanal) 10 cm
- Bhandaripokhari (Bhadrak) 9 cm
- Puri (Puri) 9 cm
- Chandbali (Bhadrak) 9 cm
- Pipili (Puri) 9 cm
- Jatni(Khurda) 9 cm
- Cuttack (Cuttack) 8 cm
- Rairangpur (Mayurbhanj) 8 cm
- Rajkanika (Kendrapada) 8 cm
- Barapali(Baragarh) 7 cm
- Lahunipara (Sundargarh) 7 cm
- Banki(Cuttack) 7 cm
- Udala (Mayurbhanj) 7 cm
- Gop (Puri) 7 cm

Meanwhile, the IMD said on Tuesday that five districts in the state are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall in the next three hours. These districts are Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur. Koraput, Kalahandi, and Rayagada. Water logging in low-lying areas, occasionally poor visibility, and traffic disruption in the urban area are likely in these areas.
In addition, an orange warning has been issued in 13 districts for heavy rainfall and a yellow alert has been issued in 11 districts for heavy to very heavy rainfall on Wednesday.
