Bhubaneswar: With the number of active Covid-19 cases in Odisha on the rise, Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra on Monday urged people to go for testing immediately and get treatment if their symptoms develop.
“While the number of active Covid-19 cases has witnessed a rise, the infection rate is stable. Of the 629 active cases, 12 patients have been hospitalised. We are following the basic rule of testing, tracking and treatment,” Dr Mishra said.
“People who have developed symptoms should go for Covid test, follow the necessary home isolation guidelines and seek immediate consultation if the condition worsens,” he added.
He further informed that a massive mock drill is being conducted at all hospitals across Odisha to assess preparedness.
According to data released by the Union Home Ministry on Monday, Odisha recorded 102 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, while 29 patients recovered and were discharged from the hospitals in the state.
Meanwhile, a Covid-19 mock drill was conducted at the Capital Hospital in the city on Monday as per the Union Health Ministry’s notification to check the preparedness of the hospital in dealing with Covid-19 cases.
Capital Hospital Director Dr Lakshmidhar Sahoo Monday said that though the hospital is not a Covid-19 speciality hospital, they were fully prepared for any situation. Allaying fears, he said that there is no shortage of oxygen in the state. The mock drill will continue on Tuesday also.
