Bhubaneswar: Odisha recorded 382 fresh active Covid-19 cases from 5,352 samples during the last 24 hours taking the cumulative caseload in the state to 3032 on Monday. According to data released by the state Health Department, Odisha now has 3,032 COVID patients with 276 patients having recovered from the infection.
The test positivity rate (TPR) in Odisha now stands at 7.1%. During the last few days, Odisha has been testing 6,000 to 7,000 samples, but it has now dropped to below 6,000.
However, the daily Covid-19 caseload dropped by 27% since Sunday, when the number of fresh active cases in a day crossed 5,000 – the highest spike in eight months. In mid-August 2022, the test positivity rate in Odisha was 7.5%
It is worth mentioning here that five districts of Odisha – Cuttack, Sundargarh, Nabarangpur, Balangir, and Mayurbhanj – accounted for more than 70% of the daily Covid-19 caseload.
The weekly TPR spiked to above 45% in Sambalpur which has the highest TPR of 48%, followed by 25% in Subarnapur, 21% in Sundargarh, 14.1% in Kalahandi and 13.94% in Nuapada.
Odisha has so far confirmed three Covid-19 deaths this year.
Meanwhile, India witnessed a significant drop in daily Covid-19 cases as the country logged 7,178 fresh cases in the past 24 hours. Active cases also fell to 65,683 from 67,806. The death toll due to the viral disease has climbed to 5,31,345, with 16 fatalities.
