Bhubaneswar: Odisha recorded approximately 69.34 per cent voter turnout in the second phase of the simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha polls held on Monday in the state.
Odisha successfully concluded the second phase of polling on Monday, with voting taking place in 35 assembly seats and five Lok Sabha constituencies of Sundargarh, Aska, Bolangir, Kandhamal and Bargarh.
Bargarh Lok Sabha constituency polled 76.20% followed by Bolangir with 71. 46%.
The Parliamentary Constituency-wise approximate voter turnout is as follows: Aska 60.78%, Bargarh 76.20%, Bolangir 71.46%, Kandhamal 70.37% and Sundargarh 67.74%.
Similarly, the approximate voter turnout in the 35 Assembly Constituencies is as follows: Aska 58.99%, Attabira 74.00%, Baliguda 68.54%, Bargarh 74.20%, Bhanjanagar 66.12%, Bhatli 79.23%, Bijepur 77.20%, Biramitrapur 75.50%, Birmaharajpur 78.37%, Bolangir 65.85%, Bonai 73.25%, Boudh 75.12%, Brajarajnagar 75.02%, Daspalla 72.00%, G Udaygiri 67.02%, Hinjili 58.21%, Jharsuguda 78.50%, Kabisuryanagar 58.84%, Kantabanji 67.96%, Kantamal 75.30%, Khallikote 61.51%, Loisingha 72.10%, Padampur 75.12%, Patnagarh 68.24%, Phulbani 70.79%, Polasara 62.45%, Raghunathpalli 62.50%, Rajgangpur 66.05%, Rourkela 61.45%, Sanakhemundi 61.35%, Sonepur 81.23%, Sundargarh 63.00%, Surada 63.80%, Talsara 71%, and Titlagarh 68.25%.
It is pertinent to note that as many as 40 candidates filed nominations for contesting Lok Sabha elections in Aska, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Bargarh and Sundergarh, while 265 filed nominations for 35 assembly constituencies.
Prominent candidates for the assembly elections include Biju Janata Dal president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Bikram Keshari Arukha, Niranjan Pujari, Pradip Kumar Amat, Tukuni Sahu and Rita Sahu.
