**Bhubaneswar:** Normal life across the State has been adversely affected due to the intense heat wave conditions prevailing for the last one week with mercury touching 40 degrees Celsius in several parts of the State for the alst two days.Apart from scorching heat, humidity have compounded the miseries of people across the state.
Bhubaneswar recorded a 40.4 degree Celsius mark, according to the Meteorological Department. Bolangir (41.7), Titlagarh(41.5) and Malkangiri(42.8) have been reeling under these hot conditions for the second consecutive day.
Most roads remained deserted and many shops closed down in most of the towns including the state capital.
Deputy Special Relief Commissioner Prabhat Mohapatra said that out of 13 reported deaths, only one had been confirmed as sunstroke death so far.
Directions had been issued to all government hospitals to open sunstroke wards, he added.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Met Centre Director Sarat Chandra Sahu has said that there is a possibility of low pressure over Bay of Bengal on April 14 or 15.
