Bhubaneswar: As the heatwave conditions continue to grip Odisha, Balangir district sizzled at 38.1°C on Monday, emerging as the hottest place in the state.
Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 34.2°C, while Cuttack followed closely at 33.6°C.
The data was shared by Dr. Sanjeev Dwivedi, weather scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
Several other towns also witnessed soaring temperatures. Nuapada recorded 37.2°C, Titilagarh 37.0°C, Jharsuguda 36.8°C, and Nayagarh 36.6°C. Sundargarh and Khurda registered identical temperatures of 36.5°C. Meanwhile, Hirakud reported 35.3°C and Talcher 33.8°C.
Coastal areas experienced relatively milder conditions. Balasore recorded 32.4°C, Chandbali 33.6°C, Paradip 32.9°C, Gopalpur 32.6°C, and Puri 33.8°C. Angul stood at 33.7°C, while Khordha matched Khurda with 36.5°C.
Dr. Dwivedi noted that no significant change in day temperatures is expected over the next three days. However, a gradual rise of 2 to 4°C is likely thereafter across several districts of the state.
