Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall triggered by a low-pressure system has thrown life out of gear in the state with several districts including Cuttack, Khurda and Puri experiencing incessant downpours. The renowned Konark Sun Temple has been severely affected, with water logging causing inconvenience for tourists.
According to sources, the temple premises have been inundated with water, reaching ankle-deep levels. The main road leading to the temple and surrounding areas is submerged, forcing tourists to wade through the waters.
Considering the situation, pumps have been installed to drain water from the temple premises.
However, waterlogging at Konark Sun Temple is not a new phenomenon. Even brief rainfall causes flooding here. Despite this recurring problem, administrative authorities have failed to provide a permanent solution, said sources.
As a result, domestic and international tourists leave with a negative experience.
