Cuttack: Odisha’s renowned tabla player and music director Radhakanta Nanda passed away today.
Popularly known as ‘Haribol’ in the State’s music circle, Nanda breathed his last this afternoon while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here, family sources said.
Nanda who was suffering from cancer for a prolonged period was rushed to a private hospital after his condition deteriorated on Friday, he was put on a ventilator, the sources added.
He was 58 years and is survived by his widow, two sons and daughters-in-law.
The State government had recently bestowed Nanda with the Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi award for his contribution to music.
Nanda, a resident of Alisha Bazaar area here had given music direction in over 100 Odia music albums. He had also given music direction in Odia film ‘Dadagiri’. He was active in the Odia music industry for over three decades.
