Bhubaneswar: The State Government has taken a significant step towards strengthening the welfare services for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Minorities, and Backward Classes by approving the creation of 24 new posts in various ranks.
The move aims to enhance the delivery mechanism and ensure effective implementation of welfare activities.
The restructuring of the Odisha Subordinate Welfare Service (OSWS) and Odisha Welfare Service (OWS) cadres includes the creation of two new posts of Additional District Welfare Officer, 11 new posts of Deputy Director, eight new posts of Joint Director, and three new posts of Additional Director.
This initiative is a response to the growing need for more officers at the mid and higher levels to address the critical gaps in the implementation of government initiatives.
The State Government has been launching new welfare schemes, establishing ITDAs, Micro Projects, residential schools, and hostels, which require a stronger presence of welfare service officers to ensure maximum coverage of the target population, particularly tribals and PVTGs.
