Bhubaneswar: As many as 228 people died in road accidents on the stretches of construction and repair of roads in Odisha in 2021.
Replying to a query from Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy, Commerce & Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu told the Odisha Assembly today that as per road accidents data received from CID, CB as many as 228 people died in road accidents in stretches of construction and repairing of road works during 2021.
The Minister further said that in the last 10 years 45,717 accident-related deaths have been recorded in the State.
The main factors responsible for road accidents are overspeeding, drunken driving, helmetless driving, non-use of seat belts, wrong-side driving, illegal parking, and road engineering deficiency, the Minister added.
