Malkangiri: New road to Naxal heartland in the district of Malkangiri has brought new joy to the locals.
With inauguration of the long-awaited Gurupriya Setu or bridge to the people, the 30,000 inhabitants of 151 villages got a new lease of life. Similarly, the new road connecting Doliamba and Jodamba villages under Papermetla panchayat has rejoiced the locals to a great extent. The road is set to connect Jodamba, Panasput, Andrapali, and Jantri panchayats.
While the pucca road is yet to materialise, the construction of a four-lane road has already been initiated. Its construction is afoot under the strict vigilance deployed BSF jawans.
The road connectivity is part of the development plan for the Naxal heartland of Malkangiri district. Inauguration of Gurupriya Setu, setting up of BSF camp at Hentalguda village under Papermetla panchayat, and the new four-lane road are all attempts by the State Government to weed out the Naxals in addition to bringing them closer to State-funded high-quality services and facilities.
