Bhubaneswar: The Rural Development Department has made Odia the official language for all departmental functions. Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh has issued an order mandating the use of Odia for all purposes.

His directive stated that all office documents and correspondence, official meeting statements, resolutions, directives, and departmental communications should be published in Odia.

While cabinet memorandums will be published in both Odia and English, all other official work will prioritize Odia. The directive has been issued to all officers, field officers, top engineers, and employees, aiming to promote the use of Odia in official communications.
