Bhubaneswar: Odisha Samaj UAE (OSUAE) celebrated Utkal Divas in Dubai on a grand scale. Hundreds of Odia inhabitants in UAE took active participation in the event. Uttam Chand, Consul Visa and Community Affairs attended the event as the Chief Guest.
The programme started with prayers and lighting of lamps before Lord Jagannath followed by a rendition of ‘Bande Utkal Janani’ by kids and youngsters. On the occasion, participants sand Odia numbers (both new and old ones).
Famed singers like Madhab Das and Anindita Das performed on the occasion which was a moment of joy for the audience. Due to COVID-19, the celebrations were restricted for the past two years therefore there was a lot of excitement among Odia people for the programme.
On the occasion, the annual magazine of OSUAE, ‘Odia Sanskruti Arab-ru’, was released. At the end of the programme, Odia delicacies were served. This was the 12th edition of Utkal Divas at Dubai. Last year, the event was organised on virtual platform due to the pandemic.
OSUAE president Amiya Mishra coordinated the event where ISL Shipping Chairman and CEO Capt Soumya Ranjan Patnaik and Ruchi Group Chairman Rashmita Sahoo were felicitated.
