Odisha: Sarathi Baba Seeks Permission To Deliver Sermons

Cuttack: Self proclaimed Godman, Santosh Roul alias Sarathi Baba who was recently released on bail has sought permission from the Orissa High Court for delivering sermons.

Sarathi used to be an acclaimed preacher in Kendrapada and other coastal districts till he was arrested by the Odisha Crime Branch on charges of sexual and physical exploitation of women and for cheating devotees.

While granting him relief the Orissa HC had specified that Sarathi was not allowed to speak in public and instructed the police to keep a watch on him. This apart, he was prohibited from going to his ashram at Barimula in Kendrapara district.

It has been reported that the self-proclaimed Godman has approached the High Court for relaxation in his bail conditions. Sarathi was released from Choudwar Circle Jail here on July 25 after getting bail on July 17.

The court had directed him not to influence witnesses and cooperate in the investigation process. Sarathi’s Barimula ashram and other property have been attached by the Enforcement Directorate in March 2017.
