The committee evaluated the IT Project and recommended the project of Odisha’s “SR Module” (Special Report Module) as the best among the States/UTs.
SR Module is a comprehensive and integrated application platform for SR case supervision on a real time basis in an online mode, which will also help in the efficient investigation, prevention, and prediction of crime through efficient utilization of available data in the police system.
It provides enhanced tools for investigation & crime prevention, sharing of data on a real-time basis, improved service delivery to the public/citizen, increase operational efficiency, improving e-policing management of serious crime for citizens’ welfare.
Supervision and investigation of the increase in the volume of serious crime is a cause of concern for police officers. Manual supervision of these cases is not only a time-consuming process but also there is the hurdle of duplication of efforts in routine day-to-day work. Heinous offenses cases are categorized in Odisha as special report cases in which the Crime Branch is required to monitor the investigation. This monitoring is done through the periodic report submitted by the district SsP. manually to the higher office.
As a result, there is a delay in the issue of direction by senior formation due to hard file movement. Hence, this online e-Policing module has been developed with the objective to eliminate all these difficulties and ensure effective and timely monitoring of heinous cases.
This module encompasses all the components of 5-T and has brought about a transformation in the investigation, supervision, and overall functioning of the Police department to maximize citizen satisfaction.
