Odisha: Self Kidnap Bid Foiled In Angul, Youth Arrested
Angul: Had his flawed plan of self- kidnapping been successful, 20-year-old Gaurav Ghosh would have been debt-free and could have started his life afresh. But thanks to his father he and his three associated have been arrested.
Gaurav and his associates were arrested on September 6 after his father Panchanan Ghosh filed a Police complaint.
The Ghoshes are a resident of Similipada of Angul town. As per the complaint of Ghosh senior, one Poppu from Talcher called Gaurav on September 5 demanding payment of due Rs 40,000. Gaurav immediately rushed out of the house with the cash but never returned.
Later that day Panchanan received a call from one Shakti demanding Rs 25,000 else his son will be killed. Scared that his son’s life might be in danger, he went PTC High School chowk in Angul at about 8 pm with the cash. However, four masked youth came and snatched the ransom money and beat him up.
Having an inkling that his son might be involved in the kidnapping facade, Panchanan filed a complaint at Angul Police station. Further investigation proved that the father was right about Gaurav.
The following day Gaurav and his three associates- Binod Behera of Amalapada in Angul, Shakti Prasad Mohanty of Lingarajodi village, Papun Kumar Sahoo of Gahama village were arrested, said a police official.
Angul Police Station IIC Ramesh Chandra Bisoi informed that all four accused have been forwarded to the Court for further proceedings.
