Bhubaneswar: As a part of the ongoing drive for traffic awareness in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate of Police organised programmes at different schools across the city to sensitise students on traffic safety.
DG Police (In-charge) Satyajit Mohanty was present at Unit VI Boys High School to inaugurate the event. Mohanty administered the pledge of traffic safety to students on the occasion.
Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi attended the event at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences here. The ceremony began at 10 am and more than 20,000 students participated.
Additional DGP Railways, Pranabindu Acharya attended the event at Syed Mumtaz Ali High School while STF SP Rahul PR administered the pledge to students of Sahid Nagar Government High School.
Similarly, CESU CEO Arun Bothra attended the event at Uni VI Girls High School.
Several senior police officials led the programme at different schools today, where students in large numbers turned up to pledge to follow road safety norms.
DCP Traffic, Sagarika Nath said, “The initiative is a two-pronged approach. The children will advise their parents to follow traffic rules. And secondly, these youngsters are our future road owners, so they must be thorough with the traffic norms.”
