Bhubaneswar: Cold wave conditions tightened their grip on Odisha on Sunday as at least 16 places across the state recorded minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Udayagiri emerged as the coldest location in the state, with the mercury dipping to 3.1 degrees Celsius. Semiliguda followed at 4.6 degrees Celsius, while Phulbani recorded a minimum temperature of 5.5 degrees Celsius. Daringbadi registered 6 degrees Celsius, Koraput 6.5 degrees Celsius, and Chiplima 7.8 degrees Celsius.
Nabarangpur and Rourkela reported minimum temperatures of 8 degrees Celsius each. Jharsuguda recorded 8.2 degrees Celsius, Bhawanipatna 8.5 degrees Celsius, Angul 9 degrees Celsius, and Kirei 9.2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Boudh, and Sundargarh reported minimum temperatures hovering around the 10-degree Celsius mark.
The IMD has advised residents to take necessary precautions as cold conditions are likely to persist in several parts of the state.
