Cuttack: In a significant development in the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) Sub-Inspector exam scam, prime accused Shankar Prusty and his close associate Muna Mohanty, along with three others, have filed anticipatory bail petitions in the Orissa High Court to avoid possible arrest.
The other petitioners include Diptimayee Sahu, Srikanta Maharana, and Sukanta Maharana alias Rinku. All five have approached the High Court seeking protection from arrest as the investigation into the recruitment scam continues to widen.
Notably, lookout circulars had earlier been issued against Shankar Prusty and Muna Mohanty, restricting them from leaving the country.
According to sources, Muna Mohanty allegedly played a central role in the case — including organizing the transportation of 114 candidates in three buses on September 30, a move that has become a key focus of the investigation.
Police sources said both Prusty and Mohanty have been under surveillance amid suspicions of their involvement in the manipulation of recruitment processes and coordination with other accused individuals.
The High Court is expected to hear the anticipatory bail pleas shortly.
