Bhubaneswar: Simmering heat wave conditions prevailed in Odisha as mercury breached the 40°Celsius mark in 16 places across the state today.
Boudh and Jharsuguda were the hottest places in the state and recorded the day’s highest maximum temperature of 43.4°C followed by Sambalpur at 43.3°C.
While Cuttack recorded a maximum day temperature of 38.5°C, Bhubaneswar remained a little cooler at 37.7°C.
The IMD said that there will be no large change in Maximum temperature (Day temperature) during the next 4 days and rise thereafter over the districts of Odisha. The maximum temperature is very likely to be 40°C and above at a few places over the districts of interior Odisha during the next 5 days. Hot and discomfort weather is very likely at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha during the next 5 days. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said in today’s midday weather report.
