Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest town in Odisha on Thursday, recording a scorching temperature of 42.2°C amid the ongoing heatwave sweeping across the state.
The data was shared by meteorologist Umasankar Das via his official handle on X (formerly Twitter).
According to Das, other towns also reported severely high temperatures. Sambalpur recorded 42.0°C, Hirakud 41.6°C, and Rourkela 40.5°C. The capital city, Bhubaneswar, witnessed a high of 39.2°C, while Chandbali registered 37.6°C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an advisory urging citizens to take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses, stay hydrated, and avoid exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours.
