Bhubaneswar: The temperature in Odisha is soaring, with Sambalpur recording the highest at 42.9°C today. A total of 17 towns across the state experienced temperatures of 40°C or above.
This information was shared by weather scientist Umasankar Das on his social media account X (formerly Twitter).
According to Das, Hirakud recorded 42.4°C, while both Jharsuguda and Balangir reported 42.2°C. Boudh and Titilagarh closely followed at 42°C. Angul sizzled at 41.9°C, Bhawanipatna at 41.6°C, and both Sundargarh and Sonepur registered 41.5°C. Paralakhemundi and Bargarh each recorded 41.2°C, while Nuapada reported 41.0°C. Rourkela and Dhenkanal weren’t far behind, recording 40.6°C and 40.3°C, respectively.
The state capital also experienced intense heat, with the mercury rising to 40.4°C. However, data showed that the temperature in Cuttack soared to 40°C.
