Odisha: Snatcher Killed In Accident After Colliding With Police Vehicle

Jharsuguda: A miscreant was killed while his associate was injured after being hit by a police vehicle when the duo was trying to flee after a loot bid. The mishap took place at Lakhanpur area of the district on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Dharmendra Khadia of Brajarajnagar. His associate Swapna Rohidas of Rengali has been admitted to a local hospital.

According to reports, two-woman employees of a finance company were accosted by the duo near Sajbahal area. The bike-borne miscreants tried to snatch their cash bag but failed and fled from the spot.

One of the women sought help from locals who rushed to nab the duo but they managed to escape. However, while trying to flee from the spot, they accidentally hit a police vehicle.

The collision was so intense that Khadia died on the spot, while Rohidas sustained critical injuries and was rushed to TRL hospital at Belpahar. The police reached the hospital and sent the deceased’s body for post-mortem.

“A mouser, sharp weapon, and the two-wheeler used in the crime have been seized. A case has been registered in this connection,” Jharsuguda SP Ashwini Mohanty said.
