Bhubaneswar: Odisha has made its mark at the 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand, securing 46 medals, including 14 gold, 15 silver, and 17 bronze medals. This impressive haul has earned the state 12th position in the all-India level and a spot among the top 15.
To recognize and reward the outstanding achievements of Odisha’s sportspersons, the government has announced a prize money of Rs. 6 lakhs for gold medalists, Rs. 4 lakhs for silver medalists, and Rs. 3 lakhs for bronze medalists.
Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj congratulated the sportspersons on their remarkable success, stating that they are the state’s pride and glory. He expressed pride in their achievements and announced that the government would felicitate them with cash awards.
The 38th National Games saw a strong contingent from Odisha, with 302 athletes and 75 support staff participating in the event. Standout performers included Animesh Kujur, who won three gold medals in running, Rakesh Patra, who secured two gold medals in gymnastics, and Pranati Nayak, who won one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals in gymnastics.
