Bhubaneswar: Gouri Mohanty, secretary of Odisha State Karate-Do Association (OSKA) has been elected as executive council member of Karate India Organisation (KIO).
While Bharat Sharma of Delhi has been elected as President of KIO, Sanjeev Jangra of Uttarakhand has been declared as General Secretary of the same.
Apart from Gouri, Sandeep Gade of Maharashtra, Ambethkar Gupta of Jammu & Kashmir have been elected as executive council members. However, Gouri has scripted history for being the first woman to be elected as executive council member of the Karate India Organisation.
On April 28, Gouri was elected secretary of OSKA for a three-year term (2024-2027).
Carving for herself a unique niche in the field of sports, Gouri’s journey as a shooter exemplifies the power of unwavering resolve and unshakeable spirit. With unwavering resolve, Gouri embraced the challenges that came her way, turning obstacles into opportunities for growth and transformation.
She has been winning medals after medals in the shooting championship since 2015.
She had won the silver medal in the 12th Odisha State Shooting Championship, held in Bhubaneswar between July 20 and July 23, 2023.
Gouri also has the credit of winning two bronze medals in the 8th Odisha State Shooting Championship, held at Bhubaneswar from July 26 to July 30, 2018. To sum up, Gouri has won a total of three bronze medals in the senior women’s group of the 7th Odisha State Shooting Championship, held at the state capital from August 17 to August 20, 2017.
In 2015, she won the silver medal in Odisha State Shooting Championship, held at Bhubaneswar from November 12 to November 15.
