Bhubaneswar: A team of STF, Odisha Police with the assistance of Assam Police, has arrested one interstate drug peddler, a resident of Manipur from Guwahati. According to the STF, Salim Ahmmed of Mantripukri under Porompat police limits in Imphal has been booked under Section 21(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985.
A case in this connection was registered by the STF on December 3, 2022, when 1.34 kg brown sugar was seized from a car with other incriminating material from two persons. Salim is the prime accused and drug peddler who was their leader, the STF said.
The accused was absconding since the occurrence and was hiding in Guwahati. The STF brought Salim on a transit remand secured by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup (Metro), Guwahati, to Odisha.
“He will be produced in the court of District & Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge, Cuttack. A thorough probe is on,” the STF added.
