Bhubaneswar: ‘Mo School’ chairperson Susmita Bagchi and Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) chairman Subroto Bagchi today donated Rs 7.5 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The donated amount will be used for Covid-19 affected destitute old women of Puri district, said a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) today.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has thanked the Bagchi couple for their benevolence, the press release added.
Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy accepted the cheque from the couple on behalf of the Chief Minister in a function organised through video conferencing.
Tripathy also handed over a letter of thanks to the couple on behalf of the Chief Minister.
“People of Odisha visit Puri to have a darshan of Lord Jagannath whenever they desire. Since the temple is closed I feel blessed by contributing this amount to help the old women who used to earn their livelihood near the temple and in Puri town by running small shops,” said Mrs Bagchi.
Mr Bagchi said that they feel honoured by making this contribution. He expressed their gratefulness to the Chief Minister to have accepted their small contribution.
Puri Collector Balwant Singh said that the amount will be utilised for the welfare of destitute women of Puri.
It may be mentioned here that Mrs Bagchi had earlier contributed Rs 2.5 crore to the CMRF for use of women staying in Temporary Medical Camps in Bolangir district.
In this function, Development Commissioner, Principal Secretary Home, and Secretary to Chief Minister 5T were present.
