**Bhubaneswar:** The State Government’s ‘Skilled-in-Odisha’ campaign got big boost today by sweeping most of the events held during the India Skills East competition at Bhubaneswar.
The State’s strong contingent of 50 participants, contested in 24 skills. The results of 21 skills were declared today and 23 youths of Odisha emerged with flying colours.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his happiness and wished the winners to continue their hard work to bring laurels at World Skill level.
11 participants were winners in their respective skills and 12 participants came first runner’s up. Two youths from the State have already qualified earlier for the India Skills 2018.
All 25 winners will now be competing at national level competition of India Skills to qualify for World Skills Competition, to be held in Kazan, Russia in 2019.
Odisha is winner and first runner up in 7 Skills. Total of 225 youth from 23 states participated in the competition with six eastern India States along with wild card and corporate entries.
The event was organised by NSDC, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India at SOA university campus. Governor, Prof Ganeshi Lal presided the prize distribution ceremony and inspired the winners and participants of the skill competition.
Subroto Bagchi, Chairman, OSDA congratulated the winners and wished them for their onward journey to World Skills.
