Odisha Swelters Under Heat Wave Conditions, 14 Places Cross 40°C

Bhubaneswar: Heat Wave conditions prevailed across Odisha on Wednesday with maximum day temperature remaining above 40°C in 14 places.

Jharsuguda remained the hottest place in the State by recording a maximum day temperature of 43°C followed by Baripada 42.5°C, Sambalpur 42°C, Boudh 41.6°C, Talcher 41.6°C, Bolangir 41.2°C, Titlagarh 41.2°C, Angul 41.1°C, Bhadrak 41°C, Sundargarh 41°C, Sonepur 41°C, Hirakud 40.7°C, Rourkela 40.6°C and Chandabali 40.3°C.

Here’s the detail of the maximum day temperature recorded at various places in the State.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that due to Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation Maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is very likely to rise further gradually by 2 to 3°C during the next 2 days at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Consequently, the maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to be more than 40°C and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C at a few places over the districts of Odisha during the next 4 days.

The IMD has advised people to take precautionary measures while going outside during day time between 11.00 AM and 3.00 PM.

While the IMD has said that heat is tolerable for the general public but a slight health concern for vulnerable people (viz: infants, elderly and sick people).

People have been advised to avoid heat exposure, keep cool and avoid dehydration.

Besides, farmers have been advised to continue irrigation activities in sugarcane, summer maize, pulses and other crop and vegetables.
