Kandhamal: The headmaster in charge of Sujamaju High School in Dariginibadi block of Odisha’s Kandhamal district allegedly married for the second time even as the divorce litigation with his first wife is pending.
The bizarre incident came to the fore after photographs of the reported marriage on the school premises went viral on social media.
The photographs show the headmaster in charge, identified as Sripati Nayak, along with another woman with ‘varmala’ cutting a cake in the storeroom of the school while other teachers look on.
Nayak’s first wife Nirupama Dakua has, in the meantime, lodged a complaint in this regard at the Baliguda police station questioning how a teacher can remarry on the school premises when his divorce case is still sub-judice.
Sources said that Nayak wed Nirupama in 2003 and the couple has a 12-year-old daughter. Nayak has been allegedly torturing his wife and was unhappy that she gave birth to a girl child.
“Sripati Nayak is my husband. He has been torturing me physically and mentally for the last seven years. He had filed for divorce in a family court and later withdrew it,” Dakua alleged.
“My husband remarried another woman on February 6 and living with her in the storeroom of the school,” she added.
Meanwhile, Nayak rebutted the allegations against him saying that the photographs were taken during his birthday celebrations.
