Koraput: Omprakash Mishra, a science teacher from Jeypore in Koraput district is to receive the National ICT Award for the year 2018. He is the only person from Odisha who has been selected to receive the award.
Mishra had started his teaching career in 1998. He continues to work hard in the field of education. For this he has already received several awards at the block, district, state and national levels.
He had been felicitated by the President of India with the National Award for Teachers-2017 in New Delhi on September 5, 2018 and has now been selected to receive the National ICT Award for School Teachers – 2018.
The National ICT awards are given away every year to motivate teachers to use ICT in school education in a big way. A selection process is followed for short-listing and recommendation of the required number of awardees to the Ministry of Education (MoE), GoI.
The award proposes to felicitate those teachers who have enhanced student learning by effectively and innovatively integrating technology supported learning into the school curriculum and subject teaching, and thereby promoted enquiry-based cooperative-collaborative learning using ICT amongst students.
As per the guidelines of the MoE, a jury was constituted at the national level to select the teachers for the National ICT Award for the years 2018 and 2019. The jury thoroughly considered 205 entries received from 28 States/UTs and 05 autonomous bodies and evaluated the presentations made by 204 candidates, in online mode during 5th to 11th February, 2021.
Based on the detailed online presentation made by the teachers about their work in ICT as well as interaction, the jury recommended the names of 25 teachers for the National ICT Award for School Teachers – 2018 and 24 teachers respectively for the National ICT Award for School Teachers – 2019. The Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has also approved the list of awardees.
