Bhubaneswar: In a bid to increase the tiger population, the forest department has planned to bring five Royal Bengal Tiger (RBT) including four tigresses to the state from Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra by the end of October.
It was informed by the PPCF (wildlife). As per the plan, two tigresses along with a tiger will be released in Debrigarh sanctuary and two tigresses will be brought for Shimilipal.
The big cats will be brought to Debrigarh by August and Shimilipal by the end of October.
The forest department has plans to release 810 spotted deer, 32 sambars, 18 blackbucks, 30 crocodiles, 20 saltwater crocodiles from various sanctuaries, zoos and other habitats of the state to the protected forests of the state.
The PCCF has written to the authorities of various sanctuaries and zoos.
