Bhubaneswar: The e-KYC verification process for ration cards in Odisha is expected to be completed within the next 15-20 days, according to Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra.
As part of an ongoing initiative, over 2.30 crore verifications have already been completed, with approximately one crore remaining. Once the process is finalized, new ration cards will be issued to eligible beneficiaries, Patra said.
Minister Patra emphasized that the completion of the e-KYC will help identify and remove ineligible persons from the list of beneficiaries.
He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Centre’s decision to continue the supply of free fortified rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) until 2028.
The Odisha government, following the Centre’s decision, will also extend the supply of free fortified rice under its own scheme.
