Bhubaneswar: Odisha government today announced to complete land acquisition for the Khurda-Bolangir railway line project by August this year.
"We had a meeting today on the Khurda-Bolangir railway line project. It was decided at the meeting to complete whatever little land acquisition remains for the project by August," informed Minister for Commerce & Transport Padmanabha Behera to reporters at the Lokseva Bhawan here.
Giving details on the progress of land acquisition for the Khurda-Bolangir railway line project, Behera said that only land acquisition for the Daspalla-Boudh part remains.
"River Brutanga, sanctuary and forest fall in that section. Forest clearance is causing a bit of delay. But we have decided to complete land acquisition by August despite all odds," the Minister added.
It may be mentioned here that Speaker of Odisha Assembly and Chairman of the House Committee on Railways, Surjya Narayan Patro had on Wednesday told reporters that the Railways Minister Piyush Goyal has assured him that funds will not be constraint provided the State government completes land acquisition and handover the land for ongoing railway line projects in the State.
Patro had led a delegation comprising of the members of the House Committee and some Odisha MPs to meet Goyal to present a memorandum on the inadequate provision in the rail budget for the State.
