Bhubaneswar: Odisha government and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) have decided to conduct regular quality check for Mahaprasad and ghee at the Puri Jagannath Temple.
Talking to the media on Friday, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said that following the row over the prasad laddo in Tirupati temple, the Odisha government and the SJTA have decided to ensure that the Mahaprasad and other ingredients are of superior quality.
“The government and the SJTA will jointly undertake a quality check of the items before they are taken to the temple’s kitchen and once again when the Mahaprasad is prepared,” the minister said, adding that the Health department has been asked to provide food inspectors for the same. “Soon we will appoint dedicated food inspectors for the Srimandir,” he added.
“The government is aware of the inappropriate events at other temples and is taking appropriate steps to ensure that the same does not happen in temples in Odisha,” Harichandan assured.
