Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will continue the e-KYC verification process for ration cards till the last applicant is verified, Food Suppliers Minister Krushna Chandra Patra told the media on Sunday.
The minister further said that the government has undertaken the e-KYC verification of about three crore people in the state and has already completed the e-KYC verification of two crore people.
“The process will take another 30-45 days to be completed. Once we complete the e-KYC verification process, we will come to know how many people have fake ration cards. We will, then, cancel the fake ration cards and provide new ration cards to the eligible beneficiaries,” Patra said.
The state government has already announced that new ration cards will be issued only to applicants who are found eligible after Aadhaar-based e-KYC verification of the existing ration cards.
People who are eligible to be covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) will be issued new ration cards.
