Odisha To Expedite Implementation Of New Motor Vehicles Act

Bhubaneswar: In order to fulfill the aim to reduce the accident rates in State by 50 per cent, the implementation of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act will be expedited with the end of the relaxation period this month, said Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera on Thursday.

Behera said maximum people have obtained the required documents and RTO offices are no more crowded. Awareness has been spread among the public to obey the traffic rules which has brought down the number of accidents and deaths in the State.

However, with the aim of bringing the accident rate down by 50 per cent, implementation of the rules such as wearing a helmet, driving within the speed limit and checking drunk driving will be expedited.

It will be helpful in ensuring the safety of the citizens which is the Government's foremost priority, Behera added.
