Bhubaneswar: Odisha is to experience above normal rainfall in June that will be beneficial for farmers, informed Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, on Tuesday.
Southwest Monsoon seasonal (June to September) rainfall over the country as a whole is most likely to be normal. In the case of Odisha, there will be normal and above rainfall at a few places and below normal rainfall at remaining places.
Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some parts of central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Kerala, some more parts of Tamil Nadu, some parts of Karnataka, and some more parts of south and Central Bay of Bengal, some parts of northeast Bay of Bengal and northeastern states during next 2-3 days.
While it is yet to be ascertained when the monsoon will touch Odisha, the system is being regularly monitored, said Mohapatra.
