Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced plans to create 40,000 job opportunities in the state by the end of this financial year, following a pre-budget meeting held on Friday.

“We are focusing on industries and agriculture as key sectors to drive job creation. Investments will play a transformative role in rural development, particularly through the implementation of the Bikashita Gaon Bikashita Odisha project, which has already received Cabinet approval,” said CM Majhi.

The pre-budget meeting also included discussions on various proposals aimed at aligning job creation with the state’s development strategies.

The consultations hold particular importance as the Odisha Assembly’s budget session is set to begin on February 13, with the Chief Minister, who also serves as the Finance Minister, scheduled to present the budget on February 17, 2025. The first phase of the session will run from February 13 to February 21.

Former Finance Ministers, economic experts, and community representatives participated in the pre-budget consultations, offering valuable insights and suggestions to guide the state’s fiscal policies. Additionally, the government has invited public feedback on the budget planning process, with submissions being accepted until January 31.

The state government’s focus on combining industrial growth, agricultural investment, and inclusive planning reflects its vision for a more prosperous and developed Odisha.
