Bhubaneswar: The National Forensic Science University (NFSU) will establish a campus in Odisha to offer specialized education in cyber security to the state’s youths.
A delegation from NFSU met Chief Minister Mohan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhavan today to discuss the proposal, on Friday.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for such an institution in the state, considering the rising cybercrime. He assured that the state government would provide all necessary support for the establishment of the campus.
The campus will help create experts in crime investigation and prevention. Odisha’s police personnel will greatly benefit from cyber security training. That apart, the state’s scientific officers’ requirements will be met.
The Chief Minister also said that steps will be taken to develop it into a premier Center of Excellence.
Present at the meeting were Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling, NFSU Director Dr Purvi Pokhariyal, Tripura NFSU Director Dr HK Pratihari and other experts.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary Home Satyabrata Sahu, DGP YB Khurania and Additional DGP Arun Bothra were also present.
The CM later took to his ‘X’ handle to share the news and wrote: “A meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhavan to discuss the establishment of a NFSU campus in Odisha. Representatives from NFSU participated in the discussion. Given the rising cybercrime, there is a pressing need for such an institution in the state. It will help create experts in crime investigation and prevention.”
